ForTest Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Hello I've searched on the forum about the topic but nothing i've found My question is: how can i import a TTF bold? I've seen in the examples that Dejavu Font already start in bold version. What tool have you used? I've tryed FontForge but when i try to convert the TTF to .C table i get a wrong format message
Joel Bodenmann Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 The font converter doesn't distinguish between bold and non-bold fonts. You should be able to convert a bold font just like you convert a non-bold font. Can you please attach the TTF file that you tried to convert but failed so we can investigate?
ForTest Posted April 12, 2016 Author Report Posted April 12, 2016 In attachment the font i've used Isonorm-regular.ttf is the starting true type font and it works but i have only the regular version, so i've tryed to edit the numbers and make them in bold using FontForge (changing the width) http://oi65.tinypic.com/2iuu68y.jpg The result is Isonorm_modified.ttf When i try to build the array to convert the TTF to .C file i get a bad format error message Probably i make a mistake or maybe the tool i've used is wrong for do this Isonorm_modified.ttf Isonorm-regular.ttf
Joel Bodenmann Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 We just tried to convert those ourselves and the regular, unmodified one is working nicely. However, we can confirm that the modified one isn't working at all and it seems to crash the encoder. To be honest we're not very motivated to investigate this issue at this moment as it appears to be the very first time that any TTF file doesn't work. The fact that it has been modified by some 3rd party online service and the fact that all the thousands of other TTF files that were used so far with our font engine worked tells us that it's not a high-priority task. I put it on the ToDo list and I archived both font files but we are currently way too busy with other, more important things. If this is a high-priority issue to you (or your boss) then you might want to consider getting this done as part of a commercial support plan. Of course you can also try to find and fix the issue yourself as everything is open source. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
ForTest Posted April 13, 2016 Author Report Posted April 13, 2016 Absolutely not a priority for me I think the problem is in the wrong export of the TTF modified (regular size ~ 123k , modified size ~ 59k ) If I can fix i'll let you know
ForTest Posted April 15, 2016 Author Report Posted April 15, 2016 UPDATE I've made a preset with a font Isonorm Bold (IsonormBold.ttf) http://oi64.tinypic.com/5l2clu.jpg I've made another preset with a font Isonorm Regular (Isonorm-regular.ttf) http://oi65.tinypic.com/2yud940.jpg In uGFX Studio when i set the regular font preset to a label i get this: http://oi65.tinypic.com/20573u1.jpg If i apply the bold preset to another label i continue to see the regular version: http://oi67.tinypic.com/msjhvp.jpg It's quite strange I get the same thing on the display
