Release Beta v0.13

Recommended Posts

The µGFX-Studio Beta v0.13 has just been released and is now available from our new downloads section. You can download the studio with your existing forum account - no more need for a license key. Download, run, fun!

Features, bug fixes and improvements of this version were heavily inspired by our community member king2, so a special thanks to him!

Please note that due to heavy changes in how resources are handled the project files created with previous version of the µGFX-Studio will not be compatible with the new release. However, as project files are text based it is possible to create a new project and cherry-pick the placement of all the widgets out of the old one as that part didn't change at all. If there's a lot of interest we can put together a small guide but we don't think that it will be worth it.

The changelog can be found at the bottom of the download page:

I just found this:

When using Background Designer tool preview window is displayed at correct size, while in main screen it seens to be a little larger than expected.

Attached image illustrates this.

We have already investigated in that problem and it appears to be a problem in the underlying Qt library that we are using. Apparently that is a bug known since 2007 but it never got fixed because "It's not important". It really annoys us.

We will see if we can figure out some work-around.

You can find more information here: https://forum.qt.io/topic/63610/qgraphicsview-bigger-than-supposed-to-be-unwanted-border/

We don't guarantee compatibility of project files across different version of the µGFX-Studio for as long as it's in a beta version. This is stated in this post, the corresponding blog post as well as at the download page of the µGFX-Studio and even inside the project wizard when creating a new project.

It's possible to convert them manually as they are text files. It's quicker for us to do it by hand than writing a converter tool or something like that - please check your e-mail ;)

You can select the default page using the context menu on a display page in the list on the left side: Right-click on a display page thumbnail and select 'default'.
There's also the possibility to tell the preview generator to automatically loop through all available display pages. This is disabled by default. You can set the delay between the display pages under Settings -> Generator -> Page loop delay.

If you don't use the Page loop delay to have the preview automatically cycle the pages, only the default page will display. In that case you would need to modify the preview source to add code to change the page based on some event (like a button press) and then manually recompile the preview.

FYI, the problem I had with 0.12 silently crashing at the license manager screen does not occur with 0.13.  0.13 is working fine on the same machine with the same settings.

Thank you for your feedback!

I strongly assume that the license manager didn't really crash. I saw that the Close-Button had focus by default. So entering your information and then hitting the Enter-Key would have caused the dialog to close - not to crash.
Anyway, the license manager is now gone. You get access to the studio by downloading the package using your forum account, that's it :)
